The Automation Testing Pyramid, we’ve all seen it. Some of us even saw it while we were being schooled in the art of testing. A big beefy base for unit testing, a nice hefty layer on top for integration test and a small slither of Front End / UI tests on top. Trying anything else would be a receipt for disaster. But what if you have no other option? What if you can’t build a nice hefty layer with integration tests between the microservices? And isn’t the UI our main point of contact with our customers?

In this presentation we will remove the stigma of front-end UI automation and provide a strategy to improve stability, reliability and reiterate the importance of a proper Front-End UI automation test set. A lot of time and effort has gone into the Selenium WebDrivers and WDIOs of the world. In this presentation we will learn (and show!) you how to harness the full potential of these libraries and build a fail-safe Front End UI test automation framework.

Not having the test pyramid in place can be a good thing and should not be a death sentence. This presentation will show you how to build a front-end UI test automation framework suited for the important job of testing the main portal to our customers.

Michel Lalmohamed, Test Automation Advocate at Valori will host the session D2 “Don’t judge a test by its front end!” on Thursday June 16. Interested to see more of the program? Visit the program page!
